Improving Your Odds
I am an NRA certified Pistol Instructor and a Maryland State Qualified Pistol Instructor. I offer the NRA Basic Pistol course (12 hours), the Maryland State HQL course (4 hours) and the Maryland State Wear and Carry (concealed carry permit) course (16 hours). I offer these classes on a part-time basis and prefer small group or one-on-one training. I also offer Personal Secuity Consulting, which can be tailored to your unique circumstances.

My professional backgroun is in research analysis and risk managment, and I am currently a senior risk professional at a large financial insitution.

I am a shooting enthusist and believe strongly in an individual's right to self defense and the right to keep and bear arms. I believe that those who share this belief should acknowlegde the significant responsibilities that come with owning and using firearms.
I obtained my instructor certifications because I want firearm owners to be both safe and effective. Throuh my research and risk managment "lens" I have routinely observed un-safe and ineffective gun handling and, candidly, instruction that is often lacking. Additionally, I have been fortunate to train with one of the most respected trainers in the field, and I hope to impart some of his wisdom and skills onto my students.
You should expect all firearm instructors to teach safe gun handling. Nonetheless, many instructors miss a critical aspect of safe gun handling that I cover in each class. It was "drilled" into me by my mentor and I make it a routine part of my instruction and show you how to make it part of your subconscious rountine.
Effective gun handling goes beyond being able to consistently put a round into a stationary target at a close distance in a controlled setting. Each of my students, no matter prior experience, will hit the target consistently at the end of our insutruction. But more importantly, I will lay the foundation for truly effective gun handling. Effective gun handling means you can safely and consistently hit your intended target when your life depends on it. It's the tactical application of fundamental skills.
